Have you ever heard of Carbonara pasta? It’s an incredible Italian dish that mixes traditional ingredients that evoke true flavors. Are you testing your cooking skills during the lockdown? Then you should definitely check out this recipe.

“This is the kind of pasta everyone likes,” says Nicoletta Giovannelli, an Italian mom of the area. “Making Carbonara is much simpler than people think. It’s a mix of a few ingredients that match really well together. Where I am from, everyone adores it and I’m sure it’s not going to disappoint you.”

To make this delicious pasta dish, you are going to need the following ingredients. Keep in mind that these are the portions for four servings.

  • 12 oz of a kind of pasta you like (usually this plate is prepared with spaghetti or rigatoni).
  • 4oz of guanciale (rindless bacon).
  • ¼ cup of grated Pecorino cheese.
  • 4 very fresh egg yolks, salt and black pepper.

To prepare the perfect Carbonara, start by cutting the guanciale into ¼-inch layers (if not already cut), then into long 2-inch strips.

After breaking the egg shells collect the 4 yolks in a cup. Mix the yolks with the grated cheese and a pinch of black pepper by blending quickly. This last ingredient is an important part of the original recipe, but can easily be avoided if you are not a fan of it. If you’d like to make the mix even creamier you can add 2 tbsp milk.

Brown the stripes of guanciale for the minutes in a pan until they are crisp, then turn off the heat and leave them cool for a couple of minutes.

After this step, it’s finally time to cook the pasta. Prepare a hot pan full of water. Put it on the stove to make it boil and add a couple pinches of salt. When the water is boiling add the portion of pasta and wait until it cooks.

When you think the pasta is ready, pour the hot water. Create the portions by putting the pasta in four plates and add the yolk mixture and the guanciale to the plates as well. Gently mix everything that is in the plate and add some extra pepper depending on your tastes.

That is all you need for a good Carbonara. Be sure to eat the meal while still warm or it is going to lose its awesome taste!

Carbonara pasta is a dish that was originally created in the Lazio region where Rome, the Italian capitol, is located. This type of pasta arrived in its modern form in the middle of the 20th century in the European country and was later exported to satisfy the rest of the world.

Thanks to its easy steps in the recipe, a common list of ingredients and a really short preparation period, Carbonara pasta is the perfect meal to practice your cooking skills during the lockdown.

Try it yourself, everyone in your household is going to be more than happy to taste this, and it is very hard to mess it up!
